| The Cottages
Each of the three rental cottages are of the same design and are well spaced for your privacy. The cottages are completely equipped for housekeeping and have quality decor and furnishings. All are two bedroom units, each cottage has a sofa bed in the living room. All the cottages have a cathedral ceiling in the kitchen-living room area with a ceiling fan, full bath with skylight, electric heat, satellite TV, DVD player, wireless high speed internet, modern appliances, dishes, cooking utensils, silverware, coffee perk, microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. Cottages #1 and #2 have a double bed in each bedroom. Cottage #3 has a queen size bed in each bedroom, is slightly larger and has an airtight wood stove. A screened porch and wooden deck with gas barbecue on each cottage face the water, perfect for evening grilling or viewing a heaven sent sunset at the close of a perfect day. Decks have lawn chairs and a lounge. Free laundry facilities are on the premises for the guests to do their personal laundry. Fresh towels are provided daily and all bedding and linens are supplied (no beach towels). There is a phone on the premises and a fax service is available to our guests. No need to bring anything except your groceries and clothes as we've taken care of everything else. The beach is excellent for swimming, clam digging (buckets and shovels provided), beach combing or you may stroll at your leisure one mile of shoreline while watching the many fishing and pleasure boats on their way in and out of Northumberland Strait. The river and bay area are ideally suited for canoeing
and kayaking. For our guests pleasure we offer complimentary canoes and
lifejackets so you can enjoy a venture up the sheltered river, or enjoyed
by many of our guests is a fifteen minute paddle across the bay to the
Murray Islands. These are a network of five small islands which are fun
to explore. There you will find species of local seabirds and frolicking
seals sunning on the sandbars. Be sure to take your camera and binoculars
as sightings of bald eagles are common.
Bird watchers
will surely delight in spotting many of the 315 species found
on Prince Edward Island. For biking enthusiasts the quiet country roads in the surrounding area and the Confederation Trail ,which begins just 1 km from the cottages, offer enjoyable cycling.. Golfers will find several excellent 9 hole golf courses and several championship 18 hole golf courses within a short drive. Fox River Cottages are conveniently located one mile from the village of Murray Harbour and five miles from Murray River. The villages offer all amenities such as a grocery store, restaurants, service stations, craft shops, churches, post office, library, etc. We have welcomed visitors from the four corners of the world and look forward to your visit to Fox River.
